Stormwater

The Winnetka Park District and Village of Winnetka have negotiated intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) authorizing the Village to utilize the Skokie Playfields, Crow Island Woods, and the Winnetka Golf Course properties for stormwater storage, conveyance, and water quality improvements in order to address long-standing and serious flooding in western and southwestern Winnetka.

Project Updates

The Village of Winnetka broke ground for the stormwater management project July 13, 2022.

The Par 3 course closed to the public effective July 18, 2022. Construction began the week of August 1, 2022 on the Par 3 course.

The 18-hole course will be closed to the public effective November 1, 2022.

Skokie Playfield + Winnetka Golf Course

The Skokie Playfields IGA was approved by the Park District Board on Thursday, February 20, 2020.

The portions of the Skokie Playfield property to be used include the 18-hole golf course, the Par 3 golf course, and Little Duke field. As part of the agreement, the Park District will realize stormwater and drainage improvements on the property, including on the golf course. For detailed information, view the documents below.

Crow Island Woods

The Crow Island Woods IGA was approved by the Park District Board on Thursday, February 27, 2020.

This agreement includes an underground storage tank located under both the Crow Island Woods and Crow Island School properties. The majority of the tank is located under the Crow Island School property. An underground pipe will be installed across Crow Island Woods from the tank to Euclid Avenue for conveyance. The storage tank and conveyance are located outside the Oak savanna/wooded area.
