The Winnetka Park District is seeking dedicated and passionate summer staff for camps, beaches, boating, golf and marketing.
Help Winnetka Golf Club celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2017
A North Shore Tradition since 1917, the Winnetka Golf Club’s rich history needs to be celebrated! Currently we are compiling a historical timeline of the WGC which will be used in a digital and permanent display at the WGC Clubhouse.
Please help us celebrate by sharing . . .
- WGC Stories (oral and written accounts)
- WGC Photos (we can scan originals if necessary)
- WGC Memorabilia (donations or on-loan accepted)
Now through mid-January we are compiling all this information for our timeline and permanent display. If you have something you’d like to contribute (stories, photos, memorabilia) please contact Mary Cherveny at mcherveny@nullwinpark.org or (847) 501-2076.
Please share this information with others, especially those who are not currently residing in the Winnetka area.

Winnetka Waterfront 2030 Receives Planning Award
The American Planning Association – Illinois Chapter (APA-IL) recently awarded the Winnetka Waterfront 2030 a 2016 Illinois State Planning Award. This planning effort exemplifies the practice of urban planning and stands as an example of way members are “Making Great Communities Happen”. Scott Freres, co-founder and principal of The Lakota Group accepted the award at the 2016 APA-IL State Conference Chapter Awards Ceremony on September 28, 2016.
The Winnetka Park District Board of Commissioners engaged the services of The Lakota Group (Project Leader/Landscape Architects), Gewalt Hamilton Associates (Civil Engineering), Shabica & Associates (Bluff Restoration and Coastal Engineering), Baird & Associates (Coastal Engineering) and OKW Architects (Recreation Architect/Facility Assessments) working as one team to assist the Park District with this Lakefront Master Plan. This plan encompassed a community engagement process for the long-term viability of this natural resource. Focus was on infrastructure, traffic, parking, bluff restoration, coastal/environmental issues, preservation and enhancement of native shoreline habits, facility usage and programming needs.
