James Hemmings Resigns from Winnetka Park District Board of Commissioners

The Winnetka Park District announces the resignation of James Hemmings from the Board of Park Commissioners. Hemmings, who has served on the Board since 2023, played a significant role in advancing the Park District’s mission to enrich the quality of life for the community through exceptional parks, programs, and facilities.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to James for his dedication and service to the Winnetka community,” said Christina Codo, Board President. “His contributions have left a lasting impact, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

To fill the vacancy, the Park Board will initiate a process as outlined in the Board’s Policy Manual and state law. The Board will discuss the vacancy and direction forward at their December 19, 2024 regular Board meeting. This will include a call for nominations and applications from the community.  The Board will carefully review all applications and may conduct interviews with selected candidates. The final decision will be made through a majority vote during a regular or special Board meeting. The selected individual will serve on the Board for the remainder of the unexpired term through May 2027, as per Illinois state law.

Community members interested in applying for the vacancy or nominating a candidate are encouraged to monitor the Winnetka Park District website and social media channels for updates on the application timeline and process.
