The Winnetka Park District is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Best of the Best Award for Intergovernmental Cooperation by the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD). This honor recognizes agencies that have established successful intergovernmental agreements or partnerships aimed at maximizing taxpayer dollars while enhancing community benefits.
The award highlights the collaborative efforts between the Winnetka Park District and the Village of Winnetka in the creation of an underground stormwater storage system beneath the Winnetka Golf Club. This innovative project, completed in 2023, addresses critical flooding issues while revitalizing the golf course, ultimately improving both stormwater management and the overall golfing experience for residents and visitors.

The Best of the Best IAPD awards celebrate agencies across Illinois that have made significant contributions to their communities. The winners, including the Winnetka Park District, will be honored at the Best of the Best Awards Gala on Friday, October 25, at Wheeling Park District’s Chevy Chase Country Club. This prestigious event serves as a platform to acknowledge the dedication of board members, professionals, citizen volunteers, local businesses, and media representatives who tirelessly work to advance parks, recreation, and conservation in Illinois.
