The Winnetka Park District’s sledding hill is closed due to the Village of Winnetka stormwater construction project and the Winnetka Park District’s golf course construction project. Interested down-hill racers will find the Park District’s traditional sledding area fenced off for safety and to preserve the ongoing work. Not to worry tobogganers! Please check out our neighboring Park District’s sled hill options:
- Northbrook: Woods Oaks Green Park + Techny Prairie Park and Fields
- Glenview: Flick Park
- Glenview: Johns Park
- Glencoe: The hill across from Watts Ice Center
- Evanston: Lovelace Park, Gross Point + Isabella.
Outdoor Ice Rinks:
For more winter wonderland outdoor fun, the Park District floods Indian Hill Park to create outdoor skating and hockey opportunities (weather permitting). Currently, the ice rink is not open. To establish ice for skating, the weather must maintain temperatures overnight 15°F or below and daytime highs no greater than 20°F for TWO consecutive weeks. Despite the recent cold snap, we have not met these weather conditions, so outdoor ice rinks are not open just yet. Flooding the greenspace takes at least four days and nights once the temperature criteria is met. The Park District will provide an update once the Indian Hill Park outdoor skating rink is open for action. Stay warm!
