Winnetka, Illinois – The Winnetka Park District cordially invites all community members to participate in two upcoming feedback events regarding the renovation of the Happ Road Park. These events will provide an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts and preferences on the proposed redesign of this beloved community space.
Happ Road Park Playground, last renovated in 2000, is set for an upgrade to meet current accessibility and safety standards. The renovation plan includes replacing existing equipment and play surfacing while maintaining a focus on serving children aged 2 to 5 years old.

- Date: Wednesday, April 10, 2024 Time: 6:30 PM Location: Winnetka Park District Administrative Center, 540 Hibbard Road, Winnetka, IL
The proposed renovation features:
- Installation of a decked and roofed tot play structure with slides, play panels, climbers, and a play table with seats.
- Addition of a swing structure with belt seats and tot bucket seats, requiring a slight expansion of the play pit area.
- Replacement of play pit surfacing with accessible interlocking wood fiber and sand.
- Installation of new subsurface drainage and site regrading.
- Planting of four new trees for shade and screening.
Moreover, the community will have a say in selecting certain design elements, including:
- Choosing between a small play dome or a short climbing wall structure.
- Selecting a curved balance beam or a sit-down spinner.
- Assisting in choosing color schemes for the play equipment.
