2020 Beach Season

June 13 – August 23
Monday – Sunday: 9am-7pm

Daily passes will not be available for the 2020 season.


The concession stand will be closed for the 2020 season. Restrooms will be available, but showers will be closed.


The upper and lower parking lot at Tower Road Beach are reserved for Winnetka residents only. Non-residents may utilize the parking lot at Hubbard Woods Park.

Due to limited spots, we encourage residents to walk, bike, or rideshare/Uber/Lyft, to the beach whenever possible. 

Season Passes

To access Tower Road Beach, patrons must have a season pass. Residents may purchase a season pass now through June 30. Beginning July 1, non-residents may purchase passes. Click here to learn more.


As part of the Winnetka Waterfront 2030 plan, bluff restoration efforts and staircase construction is currently underway. This is scheduled to be complete by July 27. While construction of the staircase and bluff restoration are underway, a new traffic pattern will be in place. This includes a three foot wide temporary walkway along the beach access road. The lower lot will be open for resident parking. The lower and upper parking lot will be available to residents only. Staff will be present to direct and maintain a safe traffic flow.

Beach Rules

  1. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  2. For the 2020 season, daily fees will not be accepted. Only season beach passes are available for purchase.
  3. A season pass can be purchased online or at the Winnetka Park District Administration Building, located at 540 Hibbard Road, Winnetka, IL.
  4. Swimming is allowed from 9:00 a.m. to dusk, subject to weather and lake conditions.
  5. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are present. Swimming is not allowed when lifeguards are not on duty at the beach.
  6. Swimming is allowed only in the supervised swimming areas as posted at each beach.
  7. A parent or guardian is fully responsible for the supervision of their child / children.
  8. A child nine years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  9. Coast Guard-approved life jackets can be used only when a child is within arm’s reach of their parent. All other floatation devices are not allowed.
  10. Scuba or snorkeling equipment is not allowed.
  11. Children not toilet trained must wear tight fitting-plastic pants or swim diapers.
  12. Beach facilities will be closed whenever water is considered unsafe by health department officials or lifeguards.
  13. There is no roughhousing or horseplay allowed. Lifeguards will enforce this rule to ensure the safety of others.
  14. No throwing rocks or sand in the swimming areas.
  15. No jumping off piers.
  16. Fires, including grills, are not allowed on the beach.
  17. Glass containers are not allowed on the beach.
  18. Alcohol is not allowed on the beach.
  19. Smoking is prohibited at all Winnetka Park District facilities.
  20. Dogs are only allowed at Centennial Dog Beach. Ordinance #504 will be enforced.
  21. Winnetka Park District parking sticker or Village of Winnetka vehicle registration sticker must be present to park in the upper and lower lot at Tower Road Beach.
  22. Non-motorized vessels are allowed only at Maple Street Beach.
  23. The Village of Winnetka Police Department maintains a regular patrol of the beach and enforces all Park District ordinances.
  24. All other state and local health codes apply.
