September 3, 2024,

Winnetka Park District is pleased to announce that they will present the Centennial Park + Beach Project to the Village of Winnetka Zoning Board of Appeals on September 24, 2024, at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held at 510 Green Bay Road and marks the beginning of the Special Use Permit application review process for the Centennial Park + Beach Project. Presenting to the review board represents a significant milestone in the Winnetka Waterfront 2030 Plan, aiming to enhance community recreational spaces and waterfront access. The Winnetka Park District is eager to share the details of the project and demonstrate how it aligns with the valuable feedback received from the community.

Executive Director, Shannon Nazzal said, “We are excited to bring the Centennial Park + Beach Project before the Zoning Board of Appeals. This is a pivotal moment as we move forward with the Waterfront 2030 Plan. The input we have received has been instrumental in shaping this project, and we are really looking forward to bringing this project from plans to reality for the entire community to enjoy.”

Following the Zoning Board of Appeals recommendation, the Winnetka Park District will continue to work with the Village of Winnetka to schedule dates for the Plan Commission as well as the Design and Review Board prior to going before the Village Council. This will allow the community to stay informed and involved throughout the permitting process. Separately, the Park District plans to submit the Special Use Permit application to the Village for Elder Lane Park in mid-September for consideration.
