The Winnetka Park District has partnered with DLZ Industrial Surveying Inc. to conduct survey work at Crow Island Woods, Skokie Playfield, and Bell Woods in the coming weeks.
As part of this project, drones will be used to collect detailed digital data for each park site. This includes mapping features such as buildings, site elements, paving, utilities, water features, boundaries, topography, and more. All drone operations will comply with FAA regulations and will not fly over crowds or residential properties. In addition to the aerial work, there will also be on-the-ground surveying taking place at each location.
Drone activity is expected to begin at Crow Island Woods near the end of the week of August 11, with work continuing at Skokie Playfield and Bell Woods thereafter.
