Dates: Session I (June 11 to July 6); Session II (July 9 to August 3)
Location: Winnetka Park District Community Room (540 Hibbard Road)
No camp: July 4

Middle School Madness combines the best aspects of summer into one enjoyably fun package! Not only will kids love spending time at Tower Road Beach twice a week, but they will also enjoy two excursions per week: typically, we will go to a water park (Barefoot Bay, Rainbow Falls, etc.) and an additional venue (Medieval Times, Main Event, Action Territory, etc.). The fifth day will be spent participating in a wide range of activities at our own Park District facilities, including turf sports and games, archery, laser tag, bubble soccer, tennis, crafts, and more. Staff will guide, encourage and help lead campers in a gratifying experience filled with laughs, entertainment, and energy.

Camp requirements: Campers must bring a sack lunch and water every day. There is access to a refrigerator and microwave for use on non-beach and prior to departure on field trip days. Parents will be notified beforehand of any excursions that provide lunch.

Although both four week sessions offer comparable experiences, we encourage all campers to sign up for the full eight weeks because each session provides a diverse set of programs at alternate destinations. This is an exciting camp for parents who want their children to stay busy with a variety of activities.

Adventure Camp

Dates: Session I (June 11 to July 6); Session II (July 9 to August 3)
Location: Maple Street Beach (725 Sheridan Road)
No camp: July 4

Get your child outdoors with our active and fun Adventure Camp! Each week at Adventure Camp typically consists of a day at the beach, an active sports day, an excursion via bike, and two additional field trips that vary from week to week. Activities may include kayaking, paddleboarding, archery, trips to indoor venues (arcades, trampolines, mini golf, laser tag, etc.), trips to the zoo, and afternoons at the Park District’s golf course or tennis center. In an age filled with digital screens, we make every effort to keep kids outdoors, while being active and developing team building skills with peers. While both four week sessions offer similar experiences, we encourage campers to sign up for all eight weeks as each session includes different activities and excursion locations.

Camp requirements: All campers will need a bike to travel to and from destinations (typically twice a week). Additionally, campers must bring a sack lunch and water every day—there is no access to a refrigerator or microwave. We will notify parents beforehand of any excursions which provide lunch.

This camp has limited space and fills up quickly each year, so be sure to register early!

Counselors in Training

Grades: 8 – 9
Dates: Session I (June 11 to July 6); Session II (July 9 to July 27)
Location: Varies by Camp
No camp: July 4

The Winnetka Park District counselors in training program makes a great activity for teens – especially those that have wonderful memories of being campers themselves! While many of the teens looking to be counselors in training have knowledge and experience working with children, being a counselor provides a new skill set beyond babysitting. Being a counselor in training will teach teens to work together with their peers to entertain and care for young campers. They will gain valuable work experience necessary for the future, including managerial skills, leadership skills, responsibility, and enhanced communication skills. Not only that, counselors in training get to have fun as they play alongside the young campers!

Mandatory orientation: A mandatory orientation will occur. The exact date is TBD, but will be the first day of camp or prior to the first day from 9am-3pm at the Elder Lane Beach House (299 Sheridan Road). The exact date will be provided to registrants. The orientation will cover counselor responsibilities and expectations, safety policies and procedures, how to handle various situations that could occur, camp activities and games, and more. Counselors in training may only register for one session, however, they may register for a junior counselor session to begin after they have successfully completed the counselors in training program.

If any counselors in training are interested in participating 7/30 to 8/3 for extended camp, please contact Toby Ross at tross@nullwinpark.org or (847) 501-2071.

Each campsite has a very limited number of counselor in training spaces available so early registration is strongly encouraged!
