The Winnetka Park District is partnering with Paws for Patrick this May for Mental Health Awareness Month. Paws for Patrick is a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting teens and young adults living with mental illness with emotional support animals. Paws for Patrick was founded by the Roemer Family of Lake Forest, which honors their late son Patrick who struggled with anxiety and mental illness.
During the month of May, the Park District and Paws for Patrick encourage everyone to help “Turn Our Towns Green” to raise awareness for Mental Health Awareness Month. More than 22 communities across the Chicagoland area will accept donations and hand out green ribbons and lawn signs from May 1 – May 31, 2022 to bring attention to the stigma surrounding mental health.
Join us in this great cause by tying green ribbons around trees near your home, storefront, office, school, etc. to show community support and awareness of mental health. The Park District will display green ribbons across trees in Dwyer Park and Hubbard Woods Park.
