Class Makeup Policy

Only two class makeups are allowed per session. Class makeups will not be permitted during the first week of a new session or during evaluation week. Skaters must complete a makeup form prior to class (available at rink).

Minor Hawks Instructional Hockey Curriculum

The Winnetka Ice Arena Minor Hawks Instructional Hockey Class program is affiliated with the Chicago Blackhawks. Participants in all Mini Hawks, Little Hawks, and Junior Hawks classes will receive a free Minor Hawks jersey! Our classes are designed to teach the aspiring hockey player the skills needed to enjoy the great game of hockey. Whether your child’s objective is to improve their hockey skills or just learn skating on a recreational basis, we have something for them. Our highly skilled professional staff have years of experience teaching young hockey players the fundamentals of hockey and skating. ALL participants must wear a hockey helmet with mask during class. We have a limited number of free helmets available during class.

Mini Hawks (ages 4-5.5)

These classes are for ages 4 to 5.5 who have completed a full session of Snowplow Sam or Basic 1 or have a recommendation from their instructor. Click here to view all classes and register online.

Little Hawks (ages 5-6)

These classes are for students ages 5 to 6 who have completed two sessions of Mini Hawks or have a recommendation from their instructor. Click here to view all classes and register online.

Junior Hawks (ages 6+)
