The Winnetka Park District Board of Commissioners approved the District’s 2027 – 2031 Strategic Plan at its July Regular Board Meeting, establishing a framework for the District’s priorities and work over the next five years.
The Strategic Plan outlines the District’s organizational priorities, goals, and objectives for Fiscal Years 2027 through 2031. It will help guide annual work plans, capital planning, budget development, policy initiatives, and performance measurement.
The plan also builds on the District’s 2025 Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP), which was shaped through an extensive community engagement process. Community input was gathered through a statistically valid community-wide survey, an open community survey, stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and public open houses.
The priorities identified through that process are reflected in the CMP’s 18 Focus Areas and carried forward into the goals and objectives of the new Strategic Plan. This connection ensures that community priorities continue to inform the District’s decision-making and future investments.
The Strategic Plan will work alongside individual park and area master plans, the Long-Range Capital Plan, and annual operating and capital budgets to help guide decisions related to parks, facilities, programs, services, capital investments, and organizational initiatives.
We’re looking forward to turning this planning work into action. The District will continue to keep the community informed as we move forward and will share updates through our website, email communications, and social media channels.
Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback and helped shape the future of the Winnetka Park District.
