The Winnetka Park District is pleased to share that the first phase of the Elder Lane Beach cleanup is now complete. This important effort marks a significant step toward restoring and enhancing our shoreline. The next phase of the project, led by the Village of Winnetka, will focus on replacing the damaged section of the Elder Lane stormwater outflow pipe. Due to challenging lake conditions, initial work took longer than expected, and as a result, both the Park District’s and the Village’s timelines have been extended beyond the 2025 beach season. As construction continues, Elder Lane Beach will remain closed for swimming this season, as we are unable to provide lifeguard staffing during ongoing work. However, our other beaches remain open: - Tower Road Beach – Open for swimming through September 1.
- Maple Street Beach – Open for swimming through August 17.
We’re excited to announce that we anticipate a full reopening of Elder Lane Beach for the 2026 beach season, and we look forward to welcoming the community back next year. During the closure, our team successfully removed: - Several large sections of concrete.
- Various metal debris from the shoreline.
- The damaged section of the Elder Lane Pier.
This essential work ensures the long-term safety and usability of the beach for future generations. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we work to protect and improve our lakefront. Enjoy the rest of your summer! |
