The Village Green is located east of the Central Business District of Winnetka in a residential neighborhood and serves as the location for numerous annual village events, including Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Veteran’s Day ceremonies as well as the annual Winnetka Children’s Fair.  A large war memorial (cenotaph), designed in 1927 by the architect Samuel S. Otis from Winnetka, is centered on the west edge of the site.  Nearby is a cannon from the Spanish American War.  A playground includes a large playstructure, a tot unit, swingsets, and several benches.  A stone memorial marks the spot where Dr. Martin Luther King spoke in Winnetka in 1965.
