Counselors in Training

The Winnetka Park District counselors in training program makes a great summer activity for teens – especially those that have wonderful memories of being campers themselves! While many of the teens looking to be counselors in training have knowledge and experience working with children, being a counselor provides a new skill set beyond babysitting. Being a counselor in training will teach teens to work together with their peers to entertain and care for young campers. They will gain valuable work experience necessary for the future, including managerial skills, leadership skills, responsibility, and enhanced communication skills. Not only that, counselors in training get to have fun as they play alongside the young campers!

Counselors in training may only register for one session, however, they may register for a junior counselor session to begin after they have successfully completed the counselors in training program.

Junior Counselors

Teens who have completed the counselors in training program are eligible to be junior counselors. Counselors in training registered for the first session of the program can register for the junior counselor program and simply continue on after the initial three weeks. Previous counselors in training do not need to register for the entire duration, however to ensure the most positive experience for your child and the campers, please indicate your proposed schedule when registering. If possible, please keep days chosen consistent from week to week.
