Health + Safety Procedures

Your family’s health and safety is our top priority. Park District staff have worked hard to reformat our programs and camps to create as safe of an environment as we can for all participants. Below is a comprehensive list of the adjustments made.

Smaller Group Sizes

The size of each class/camp has been drastically reduced so that we can maintain small groups of 10 or less. This will allow participants to spread out and ensure that staff are able to monitor and enforce social distancing. For our general interest camps, the anticipated camper to staff ratio will be 8:2. For all golf and tennis programs, the anticipated instructor to student ratio will be 4:1.

Outdoors (when possible)

All programs will be held outdoors as much as possible. Programs will only be moved indoors during inclement weather. While indoors, participants will remain in small groups of 10 or less and will participate in activities that allow them to keep a social distance from others.

In some cases, classes or camps may be cancelled on days with inclement weather if adequate indoor space is not available. Please refer to each program or camp for their specific inclement weather procedure.

Sanitizing & Cleaning

Participants and staff will be required to wash their hands when they arrive, before they leave, and whenever soiled. All staff will carry hand sanitizer at all times for themselves and participants to use. High touch surfaces and objects will be cleaned and sanitized frequently throughout the day.

Staff Training

In addition to our regular training, all staff have received extensive training on proper COVID-19 safety and health procedures. Additionally, golf professionals have received training through U.S. Kids Golf on techniques for managing golf instruction during COVID-19.

Face Coverings

All staff and participants will be required to wear a face covering when within six feet of one another and in indoor spaces. Participants will be responsible for bringing their own face covering each day.

No Shared Equipment

All participants are required to provide their own equipment. Loaner tennis racquets and golf clubs will not be available. If necessary, participants may purchase golf clubs or a racquet directly through the golf club or tennis center.

Common Areas

All lounges, locker rooms/showers, and other common areas will remain closed to the public.

Program/Facility-Specific Guidelines

Please refer to each program and facility for more detailed information on guidelines and procedures.

Although we have made these adjustments, there is always a risk of being exposed to COVID-19 when participating in group activities. We encourage parents to consider and properly weigh these risks for their child and family and only do what they feel most comfortable with.
