COVID-19 Updates

Parks, Fields & Playgrounds

All parks, fields, playground and other open spaces are currently open. Please follow CDC and IDPH health and safety guidelines when using parks, playgrounds, and other open spaces, including:

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Wash your hands before and after visiting the playground
  • Maintain a physical distance of at least six feet
  • Be prepared to wear a face covering if six feet of distance can’t be maintained
  • Cover coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands)

Restrooms and water fountains will remain closed, so please plan accordingly when visiting parks. Playgrounds are not sanitized or cleaned.


Maple Street Beach: Open from 9am-9pm for swimming and non-motorized boat launching. All patrons must purchase a season pass. Daily passes will not be available. Get a season pass.

Tower Road Beach: Open from 9am-9pm for swimming. Patrons must purchase a season pass. Daily passes will not be available. Get a season pass.

Centennial Dog Beach: Open as a dog beach. Patrons must have a valid pass to enter. Learn more.

Elder + Lloyd Closed for the Season: Both Elder and Lloyd will remain closed for the 2020 season due to current lakefront conditions and breakwater construction at Lloyd. Learn more.


A.C. Nielsen Tennis Center: The tennis center is open for group lessons and court reservations. Masks are required upon entering the A.C. Nielsen Tennis Center facility, but can be taken off once you reach your court. Learn more.

Administrative Office: The administrative office is open weekdays from 8am-12pm and 1-5pm (closed one hour each day for cleaning). Masks are required and restrooms are closed to the public.

Platform Tennis: All platform tennis courts are available 8am-11pm. Advance reservations are required and can be completed online. All users must abide by Winnetka Park District guidelines. The paddle hut is closed.

Winnetka Golf Club: The Winnetka Golf Club is fully operational. Golfers are encouraged to book their tee times in advance online or by calling (847) 501-2050 ext 0.

Winnetka Ice Arena: The rink is currently open for group lessons. Public skating begins September 8. Masks are required in the facility, except when on the ice. All patrons must follow the rink’s COVID-19 guidelines.

Fall Programs

Fall programs are scheduled to begin early September. The full list and schedule is available in our fall brochure.


A credit will be applied to your household automatically for all programs and facility rentals that are canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A refund (instead of a credit) will be given if requested.
