Girls Instructional Field Hockey
This class, which teaches the basic skills of field hockey, is a great introduction to the sport. Loaner sticks are available at the field. Participants must bring a mouth guard and shin guards to participate. Registration deadline is September 6. Registration after this date will be accepted if space allows. Winnetka Park District / New Trier Junior Field Hockey Program
The Winnetka Park District, in conjunction with Stephanie Nykaza, Varsity New Trier Field Hockey coach, is offering this new house league program for girls in grades 5- 8. This program seeks to develop players of all levels, from the beginner to advanced field hockey player.

There will be a clinic/practice held once a week on Mondays which will teach and develop basic skills and introduce the rules of the game. Games will be played on Sundays. The head clinician is a graduate from the New Trier Field Hockey program and has played in college. Teams will be formed and coached by current New Trier Field Hockey players.

Each student must provide a mouth-guard and shin-guards in order to participate. Loaner sticks will be available at the field for students to use each week. Participants will receive a class t-shirt.

The program will culminate with an end-of-season scrimmage against Wilmette on October 19. No class September 22 or October 13.

All-Star Field Hockey
This Traveling field hockey team plays other middle school teams in the area. The team will meet an average of four times per week with both practices and games. A complete game schedule for the 2008 season is available at www.winpark.org.

Daily practices will be held after school from 4:00- 5:15 p.m. Games will typically be at 4:00 and/or 5:00 p.m. at both home and away locations. Team members will receive a team shirt and sweatshirt which is theirs to keep. This team is for the more committed and competitive field hockey player. Prior field hockey experience is strongly recommended. Parents will be asked to car-pool to away matches.

Anyone who would like to try-out must pre-register and pay the non-refundable try-out fee of $5 by September 4. Try-outs will be held September 8-10 at Skokie Playfield from 3:45 – 5:15 p.m. If try-outs are not necessary, practices will begin at this time.
