Board Information

Park Board meetings are held twice monthly on Thursdays. Committee meetings are typically held the 2nd Thursday of the month and begin at 5:30 p.m.  Regular Board meetings are held the 4th Thursday of the month and begin at 6:30 p.m. Meetings take place at the Winnetka Park District Administrative Office, 540 Hibbard Road. Brad has been a resident of Winnetka for nearly 20 years. He and his wife Dede, have one child at Skokie School and two who went through D36 and NTHS. Brad holds a BA degree from Yale in Architecture and Organizational Behavior, an accounting certificate from Cornell, and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. For the past 19 years, he has been an executive search consultant focused on recruiting Chief Marketing Officers. He recently rejoined the founder of his former firm starting the Chicago office of RSR Partners and is on the firm’s Management Committee. Prior to that, he held marketing and brand manager roles with Ralston Purina in St. Louis and Coca-Cola in Houston; which was followed by two entrepreneurial, start-up businesses in Houston. He started his career as a “liberal arts program” auditor with Price Waterhouse in their New York office.

Brad served as Chair of the Winnetka Caucus Council in 2001 and as Chair of the Village Committee in 2000. He was a Commissioner on the Winnetka Plan Commission (2002 to 2005), a board member on the Winnetka Parks Foundation (2002 to 2008) and a board member of the Winnetka Paddle Tennis Club (2003 to 2007). He is currently the Chair of Winnetka Congregational Church’s Executive Committee. Brad has been involved in a number of youth programs in the Village including set building and acting in the Winnetka Children’s Theater; and coaching in the Kenilworth Winnetka Baseball Association, the Winnetka Park District softball program and the Winnetka Hockey Club’s House League.

Ian and his wife Nora have resided in Winnetka for fourteen years. They have six children ages 16 to 5. Ian holds a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. Ian is a founding partner of Maranon Capital and has over 24 years of experience in leveraged lending, private equity and investment banking.

Ian coaches various kids sports and is captain of the worst softball team in WPD history(the Washington Generals).

Ian currently serves on the Winnetka Park District Administration, Finance, and Recreation Committees. Ian is also a Park Board liaison to School District 36 and New Trier High School and the WPD representative to the Winnetka Parks Foundation.

In 2012 Ian was elected to the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) Board of Trustees. Currently he serves on the Ambassador and Membership committees for the Association.

Mickey and his wife Judy have lived in Winnetka for 30 years.  Their three grown daughters attended Winnetka Public Schools and New Trier High School and now live with their families in Arizona, New York and Chatham, IL.  Mickey was raised in Massachusetts and holds a BS degree from the University of Bridgeport.  He has a 30 year history as a commercial construction project manager and is president of ACRE Project Management LLC.  He served as a coach for his daughters’ soccer teams and a board member of the Winnetka Golf Men’s Club.  He is a member of the US Golf Association and has been a volunteer at several major PGA events, including the US Open and the Ryder Cup.  For several winters, he has participated, along with several other Men’s Club volunteers; in an off season project at the Winnetka Golf Course to remove buckthorn and other invasive growth. 

Mickey currently serves on the Winnetka Park District Audit, Parks & Beaches, and Revenue Facilities Committees.

Teresa and her husband Bob have resided in Winnetka for 9 years. They have three boys, ages 8, 8 and 6, who all attend Crow Island.   Teresa received her BA from Colorado College with a double major in Biology and Economics. Teresa has an 18 year history in professional services, and she currently works for Ernst & Young helping manage four of their global priority accounts. Prior to working at Ernst & Young, she was a Director at Balanced Scorecard Collaborative where she helped companies execute upon their strategic plans.  Prior to that, she held a variety of leadership roles at Gartner Group. Teresa and her family are active participants in many of the park programs and extensive users of the Winnetka parks.

Teresa currently serves on the Winnetka Park District Parks and Beaches (Chairperson) and Recreation Committees.

Gerri KahnweilerGerri Kahnweiler

Gerri has been a resident of Winnetka for 18 Years. She and her husband have four children, one working professionally for the Levy Organization at Wrigley Field, one working as a ski patrol in Colorado, one attending Vanderbilt University and one attending Bowdoin College. Gerri holds a BS degree in Accounting from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and a MBA in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Gerri has been an active trustee on the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, currently serving as the Chairwomen. She also serves on the board of the Jewish Federation-Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago and is also a Trustee for New Trier Township. Among her numerous local activities, she has served as a Peer Jury Adult Advocate and chair of the Health and Human Service Committee of New Trier Township, past treasurer of the Winnetka Parks Foundation and various school related activities.

Gerri currently serves on the Winnetka Park District Administration (Chairperson), Finance (Chairperson), Recreation (Chairperson), and Audit Committees.

John PetersonJohn Peterson

John and Julie Peterson have resided in the North Shore since 1991, moving to Winnetka in 2012. They have a daughter currently at New Trier and a son currently at Skokie School. John earned a bachelor of science degree in journalism and a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Northwestern University, as well as a masters in management from the Kellogg School of Management. John has worked with Aon plc for 27 years, with an emphasis on providing risk management expertise for management liability matters.

The Petersons are active participants in various park programs and extensive users of the Winnetka parks.

In addition to his role with the Winnetka Park District Board, John also currently supports Lawrence Hall Youth Services, the Springboard Foundation, and programs associated with Trinity United Methodist Church in Wilmette, IL.

John currently serves on the Winnetka Park District Administration and Revenue Facilities Committees. John is also the WPD representative to the Winnetka Parks Foundation.

John and his wife Ellen have lived in Winnetka for 41 years. Their two married sons went to Winnetka grade schools and N.T.H.S. He attended The University of Michigan College of Engineering, and School of Business Administration, earning a BS and MBA.

John started at Procter & Gamble in industrial engineering and went to marketing. He came to Chicago to manage an AMEX company. His last decade of business was managing a national consultancy. Now retired, he continues to publish The Procter & Gamble Alumni Directory as a charity fund raiser.

John chaired the 1999 Caucus Parks Committee and then the 2000 Winnetka Caucus Council. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and is currently on the Winnetka Planning Commission.

He was on the Executive Committee of the Northern Illinois Girl Scouts and was President of United Way -Winnetka/Northfield. John was on the Winnetka Youth Organization board in 1986-2002, He rejoined that Board in 2011 and chairs the WYO Board. He is also on the Board of the Winnetka/Northfield Rotary and is currently President of that group. He was a Winnetka Parks Commissioner in 2005-2009, returned for a second term in 2011-2015 and is now starting a third 2015-19 term.
