General July 4th Parade Entry Information - 2012

2012 July 4th Parade Line-Up

Thank you for being a part of the Winnetka Fourth of July. Please make sure that you and your fellow marchers are in place no later than 9:15 am. We are going to start having parade participants fall in line immediately thereafter (click on parade line-up above). Cars and large floats are encouraged to park their entries in the appropriate spot as early as 9:00 am. This will cut down on the congestion at 9:30 am.

In the staging area, Elm St. between Hibbard and Glendale, entry number one will park closest to Glendale, then entry number two and so on. The last parade entry will be closest to Hibbard Rd. The parade starts at Glendale Ave. at 10:0 0am. Marshals will be on hand wearing light blue with “STAFF” on the back to help you find your assigned line up area.

Keep in mind that all entries must keep up a good pace while marching and keep up with the entry ahead of them. There must not be large gaps. If your group is unable to keep up you may be asked to pull out of the parade. If you have a large group of small children walking it is suggested that parents pull them in wagons or strollers.

Things To Remember

Under no circumstances can anything be thrown from a float. Due to health and safety reasons distributing candy will not be allowed. Non-edible items must be handed out by curbside marchers only. If anyone is seen throwing anything they will be asked to leave the parade.
In order to avoid gaps in the parade, entries such as bands, drill teams, jugglers, etc will not be allowed to stop along the parade route to perform.
Motorized vehicles must enter Elm St. via Hibbard Rd.
Motor vehicles must be driven by a licensed driver.
No person should be riding on a trunk or hood of a car. Passengers must be seated in the vehicle.
No riding on the tailgate of a flatbed.
No dangling limbs from floats.
Be in your assigned line up spot no later than 9:15am so the street can be cleared to begin the parade (Elm St. will be closed to traffic between Hibbard and Glendale at 9:00 am so finishing touches can be put on entries).
Once you arrive at the Village Green please proceed East on Elm St. to Sheridan Rd. and disembark or find a parking spot around the Village Green. Parking around the Village Green is reserved for parade entries so everyone in the parade can join in the fun at the Green and spectators have a second chance to see your entry.
