Winnetka Park District Board Meetings
Park Board meetings are held twice monthly on
Thursdays. These public meetings begin at 6:30
p.m. at the Winnetka Park District Administrative
Office, 540 Hibbard Road. For the meeting schedule,
please call 847.501.2040 or visit our website,
www.winpark.org.
Lightning Prediction System in Parks
A Thorguard Lightning Prediction System has
been installed to provide a safe environment for
patrons and neighbors. The system is designed
to predict the likelihood of lightning before it
occurs. The system operates April through November,
from 6 a.m.-10 p.m., at Skokie Playfields,
Tower Road Beach and Nick Corwin Park.
When conditions indicate a probable lightning
occurrence, a horn sounds for 15 seconds and a
strobe light turns on. It is recommended that you
clear the area and seek shelter, keeping away from
metal objects, until the all-clear signal is given.
The all-clear signal is three short horn blasts as
the strobe turns off. For more information, call
847.501.2040.
Community Room Rental
The community room may be rented for meetings.
The room can hold approximately 40 people.
The rental fee is $25/hr for residents and $50/hr
for non-residents. For more information, call
847.501.2040.
Tree/Park Amenity Donation Program
Honor someone special and help beautify Winnetka
with the purchase of a tree, birdhouse, shrub,
flower bed, bench, or drinking fountain. For more
information, call Bob Smith, superintendent of
parks, 847.501.2052.

Winnetka Parks Foundation
The Winnetka Parks Foundation was established
in 1999 as an advocate for the Winnetka Park
District. It supports efforts to preserve open spaces
and improve park and recreation activities. The
foundation is a non-governmental, not-for-profit
corporation established to receive charitable gifts
and donations that will enhance the development
of Winnetka Park District facilities, land and
operations. All donations made to the Winnetka
Parks Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent
allowed by the law. For more information on the
foundation, please call 847.501.2040.
Americans with Disabilities Act
The Winnetka Park District is pleased to comply
with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
which prohibits discrimination in the provision
of services, programs or facilities to individuals
with disabilities. The Winnetka Park District is
currently working to better serve those with disabilities
through facility accessibility and program
inclusion.
We are willing to provide reasonable accommodations
or auxiliary aids to enable people with
disabilities to participate effectively in any of our
public meetings. Please allow us 48 hours advance
notice to arrange for accommodation.
We welcome comments or suggestions from individuals with disabilities or their representatives so
that we may better plan and conduct Park District
services to allow effective participation by people
with disabilities.
If you would like more information on ADA
and integration opportunities, please contact Lee
Volpe, the Park District’s ADA coordinator, at
