Do visions of sugar plums dance in your head during the holiday season? Register your organization, club, troop, neighborhood, or family to decorate your very own tree in Hubbard Woods Park. Each group is responsible for their own decorations. Decorated trees will stay up until January 2. No glass decorations will be allowed. Additionally, please keep in mind that there is no electricity for the trees.

Trees provided by Boy Scout Troop 20 and in support by community partner, Winnetka Current.

Join the Winnetka Park District and the Winnetka-Northfi eld Chamber of Commerce as we welcome Santa Claus to Hubbard Woods Park. Why fight for a mall parking spot when Santa will be just down the street? Warm up with some hot chocolate and get your picture taken with the big guy himself. There will be plenty of other enjoyable activities like a trackless train ride, cookie decorating and even real reindeer to keep kids happy. This is also a perfect opportunity for your child to hand-deliver their thoughtful Santa letter to the man in charge.

If you’ve thought of taking advantage of the wonderful, winter sport of ice skating, this is the opportunity for you! The Winnetka Ice Arena is off ering FREE skating lessons designed for adults and children (4 and over) who have never had lessons before. Learn a few basic skills and safety tips to get you started.

Please register in advance as space may be limited. The lesson includes rental skates and free public skating until 12:15 pm.

Skaters will be divided by age. It is recommended that all skaters wear either a helmet or thick winter hat, gloves or mittens and figure skates. For further information contact the ice arena office at (847) 501-2060.

Prizes will be awarded to the People’s Choice for Dessert and Chili. Participants of the Chili Cook Off must bring 1 gallon of chili, serving utensils, and crock pot to keep their chili warm. Electricity, tables, chairs, bowls, and spoons will be provided. Participants of the Dessert Bake Off must bring enough dessert to pass out at least 100 samples for the public to taste.
