Winnetka Par 3 Junior Tournament Series - "The Majors"

The Winnetka Golf Club is offering an entry level tournament series for juniors. The goal is for players to experience a fun, low pressure competitive atmosphere. Players are eligible to sign up for a single event or the entire series. All tournaments are one day stroke playevents with flights by age.

• Saturday, May 17 (Par 3 Masters)
• Sunday, June 15 (Winnetka Par 3 Jr. Open)
• Saturday, July 19 (Par 3 Players Championship)
• Sunday, August 17 (Skokie Playfield Championship)
• Saturday, September 20 (Par 3 Cup)

Participants will receive a tee gift. Awards will be given to the winners of each flight. Participants will be flighted based on age.

Fall Fest

Winnetka Park District and presenting partner, City Kids Dental North Shore invite everyone to the annual Fall Fest. This year there is a later start time to help those busy families get through typical Saturday activities and afternoon naps. 

Activities include: Food, DJ, Beer/Wine, Inflatables, Touch-A-Truck, Pumpkin Roll, Scarecrow Building, Community Row, Ice/Tennis/Golf Activities, Bike Winnetka, Winnetka Whiffleball Challenge and more.

Adults will receive a FREE Commemorative Mug w/1st beer purchase.

It’s a night off from cooking and family fun for everyone. The evening caps off with a showing of the movie FROZEN (7:30 pm). All children’s activities will conclude prior to the movie but food and beverages will still be available. 

Prior to the showing of FROZEN, ice cream sundaes will be available to the first 300 children (ages 12 years and under) thanks to a partnership with Dairy Queen Highland Park.

4th Annual Winnetka Whiffle Ball Challenge

Show everyone you can be the King of the Sandlot with the 4th annual Winnetka Whiffle Ball Challenge. Held in conjunction with Fall Fest, this tournament will pit the best whiffle ball players in town against each other in a mission to win the coveted Championship Cup. Teams will consist of 5 players.

Bike Winnetka takes bicycle riders of all ages through scenic Winnetka in a group ride format. (All riders must wear a helmet or will be unable to participate.) Craft Beer Tasting at the Range

at the WGC Driving Range

Enjoy unlimited use of the driving range (clubs provided if needed),and sample fifteen 3 oz. tastings along with appetizers (additional tasting may be purchased on site). Avli Café will guide you through the tasting menu. In addition to the craft beer tasting, there will be a kid’s only area where they can enjoy use of the practice facility.

Each participant will receive a commemorative glass and the opportunity to enter a raffle loaded with exciting gifts (including beach passes, range passes and golf rounds). This is the perfect occasion to experience what the Winnetka Golf club and the newly renovated driving range has to offer.

Camping for Families

The Winnetka Park District, BackYard Nature Center, Alliance for Early Childhood, and Winnetka Historical Society have all come together to create a program geared towards families spending time together with nature. Camping can be a fun and rewarding activity for families to bond and create life-long memories. So gather your family and head over to Crow Island Woods for one of the Park District’s most remarkable program opportunities!

Whether you’ve camped a few times and just want a simple camping experience without the long drive or you’ve never even looked inside a tent, this program caters to everyone. Families will have the freedom to explore and learn about all different aspects of camping such as the basics of camp preparedness, equipment, clothing, and cooking to more specific camping experiences like backpacking or kayaking. Unique learning opportunities like a custom tour of the Log House as well as a multitude of other various diversions will keep children happy all day. There are no obligations to attend any demonstrations or activities and families are strongly encouraged to carve out time to simply be together; play cards, go on your own miniature hike, or wherever else your imaginations might take you. There will also be plenty of handouts and informative packets available to take home.


Dinner will be provided and cooked in foil pouches over the campfire. For the less adventurous types, we will also have other dinner options like burgers and hot dogs.

With the night sky overhead, your tent prepared, and your stomachs fed, cap your night listening to the wondrous sounds of nature as you drift off to dreamland. The following morning you will be awoken by the phenomenal joy of sunrise. Grab a quick bite from our continental breakfast while you pack up your gear and head home.

Winnetka Golf Course Flora, Fauna, & Wildlife Tour

Join Henry Michna, Winnetka Golf Course Superintendent for a guided walking tour of the Winnetka Golf Course. Receive an insider’s view on the intricate details of maintaining the golf course as well as learn and see the many species of plants and wildlife which inhabit the golf course. You’ll will be amazed at the many species of birds, bug, and plants right here in Winnetka.

Middle School Haunted House Tour

Join us as we go to a local haunted house. Middle school teens are invited to come along as we take a daring journey
to a local haunted house. The tour will feature pizza and pop before the bus leaves as well admission to the haunted
house. Don’t miss out on the one of a kind tour to get you in the Halloween Spirit! Space is limited to the fi rst 10 teens who register. Pumpkins on the Beach

Tower Road Beach will be transformed into a pumpkin patch for family fun this Halloween season. There will be pumpkin decorating, carnival games, and lots of excitement. The Costume Contest will start around 5:30 pm ending at 6:10 pm. The costume categories include: most original, scariest, funniest, and most decked out. Please be aware that this is a family friendly event, but there will still be sound effects, props, and staff in costumes, and it is not designed to scare children.

Lloyd Beach's Haunted Trail Of Terror

Dare to be scared by the spirits that haunted Lloyd Beach? Every year on the last Saturday of October the spirits return to Lloyd Beach to claim what is rightfully theirs and haunt the souls who dare to stop them. Some say they were lost at sea, other say that they used to own Lloyd Beach and want it back, but they all say DO NOT go to the beach when the spirits are present. For the daring souls that choose to make it down the beach, they will visit the graveyard of the spirits, walk along the Haunted Trail of Terror, enter the Haunted Boathouse (at your own risk), and experience hair-raising thrills. For inclement weather, check the weather hotline at 847-446-0080 for potential cancellations.

Fee: $5 per person (pay at the door)
