Project Update
Superintendent Smith reported to the committee that work continues on installation of the main sewer and water lines to the building.  In the course of this work, trash was encountered and was being sorted and stockpiled for removal off site.  The plumbers have completed sub grade water and sewer lines within the building. Contractors are now in the process of pouring the interior concrete floors.  Once compete, overhead and exterior doors will be installed to fully enclose the building.  Interior layout and build out will follow.

Change Orders
A credit change order from Dukane Precast Inc. for a total of $16,750.00 was presented for review.  The credit was a result of accepting a bid alternate for integrated structural supports within the concrete wall panels for the mezzanine deck.  The committee was unanimous to approve the change order.

A change order from Abbey Paving was reviewed by the committee for a total cost of $14,974.00.  Required by the Village and EPA, bentonite dams are required around all underground service lines (sewer, water and storm).  Theses dams prevent contaminated ground water from filtering off site along the trench lines.  This change order represents five of a total of seven dams that must be installed.  Cost for the last two dams will be forthcoming.  The committee consensus was to approve the change order for the above referenced amount.

A change order proposal from T.A. Bowman for the supply and installation of wire mesh partitions was reviewed and discussed.  This change order was a result of an omission on the part of the bidder who bid miscellaneous aspects of the project but not the partition section of the bid.  There was only one bidder for the miscellaneous section of project.  The partitions were cost out by other contractors with T.A. Bowman being the lowest at $13,500.00.  These wire mesh partitions will be installed as secured storage rooms within the facility.  The consensus of the Committee was to approve and proceed with this change order for $13,500.00 and charge this cost against an allowance for security fencing which was not used on the project.

Superintendent Smith discussed issues related to the upcoming costs for removing the additional trash encountered during the installation of the water and sewer lines.  Given the nature of this material in comparison to trash previously removed from site, it is extremely heavy with high water content.  This is problematic given that total hauling cost will be higher since each truck load will carry less material then before.  At the time of this writing, a project meeting will be scheduled to determine an estimated cost to remove the material from site.  Several truck loads of material had to be removed to maintain a staging area for all contractors so other work could continue.  Mr. Dowding inquired as to the bidding structure and excavation estimates of material for the service lines.  Smith reported that at the time of bidding, sub grade conditions related the profile of the landfill were an unknown and that a unit cost was bid to address removal of all trash encountered during construction.
